Billing

What Dansly costs your school, when the first invoice comes, adding a card, monthly or yearly, a founding school's first year, invoices, and what happens if a payment fails.

For owners and managers

What your school pays Dansly. This is separate from what dancers pay your school: dancers' money goes to your own Stripe account (see Go live and payouts), and Dansly takes no cut of it.

Where: from Your plan on the Go live page, or from the billing banner when one is showing.
Who: owners and managers can see it. Only the owner can add a card or change the plan.

When you start paying#

Nothing is charged until your first dancer pays you. From that first payment, you have 30 days until your first Dansly invoice.

What counts as the first payment:

  • It must be a real payment of more than €0. Free bookings and free seats don't count.
  • Payments by your own staff (the owner, managers, teachers) don't count, so testing your own checkout doesn't start the clock.
  • A later refund doesn't reset the clock.

Before that, the page shows Free until: your first dancer pays. Afterwards it shows the date of your First invoice, and a banner reminds you to Add a payment method in time.

Your plan#

The Plan card shows:

LineMeaning
PlanMonthly or Yearly.
PriceBefore BTW.
Founding yearOnly for a founding school: when the founding price ends, and what it is after.
BTW 21%Added on top.
TotalWhat's charged each month or year.
Free until / First invoiceSee above.
Paying withYour card, or "none yet".
Renews / EndsThe next renewal, or the end date if you've cancelled.

Buttons (owner only):

  • Add a payment method / Change how you pay: saves a card through Stripe.
  • Pay yearly instead: switches to yearly billing, shown with its price before BTW (the founding price, for a founding school).
  • Manage on Stripe: opens Stripe's billing portal, where every invoice, the card on file and cancelling live.

A founding school#

The first five schools that run with us get a founding place. We give it when you ask for one, through the contact form on the website; there is no button for it in the dashboard. A founding school pays €29 a month, or €290 a year, before BTW for its first year, instead of €49 or €490.

  • When the place is given, the owner gets a notice and an email: You’re a founding school.
  • The year starts at your first invoice, not when you sign up or when the place is given.
  • Monthly: your first 12 invoices are at the founding price. Yearly: your first yearly invoice.
  • The plan card shows a Founding school badge and a Founding year line. It says "12 months from your first invoice" until that invoice has a date, and "Until" that date after.
  • 30 days before the year ends, the owner gets a notice. After that the ordinary price applies, with nothing for you to do. You can cancel before that date if you would rather not go on.
  • A founding place can only be given or taken back before your plan has started.

It is article 7.7 of the school terms.

Status#

BadgeMeaning
TrialBefore your first invoice.
ActivePaid and running.
Payment failedYour last Dansly payment didn't go through. Everything you already run keeps working, including classes, rosters, attendance and dancers paying you, but you can't publish anything new until it's sorted.
CancelledYour subscription has ended. Your school and its history are still here, and nothing new can be published until you start it again.

When the status is Payment failed or Cancelled, a banner shows on every page. The owner gets it as Sort it out, and managers as See the plan. Teachers don't see it.

The owner also gets billing news by email: a first invoice coming, a card missing, a failed charge. See Notification settings.

What you get#

Every class, course, roster and dancer, with no cap on any of them. Fill-ins, attendance, the public page and the join code. No cut of what your dancers pay.
