Set up a course school

From a new account to a live school selling ten-week course blocks, including building and room, level list, teachers, first course, policies, try-outs and going live.

For owners

Outcome: a live school where dancers can find you, see your first course with its level, dates, venue and price, and enrol.

Who: the owner, on the web. A manager can do every step except connecting payouts and going live.

Follow the steps in order. Each links to its full reference.

1. Answer the setup questions#

Name, city and styles; Courses for "How do people dance with you?"; and your fill-in and catch-up answers. See Choose your setup.

2. Your school's basics#

School in the sidebar: check the name and styles, add a logo, and change the join code while you're still a draft if you like. See School.

3. Where you teach#

School → Where dancers turn up → + Add a building. Add the address, how to get in, and what a first evening looks like. The building opens with Room 1; rename it or add more. Do this before your first course, because a course needs a room. See Buildings and rooms.

4. Your level list#

Styles and levels → Set up levels for each style. Beginners 1–3 then Intermediate 1–3 is a common shape; see G01. Choose where complete beginners are welcome.

5. Your teachers#

Team → invite each teacher by email. They can't be put on a course until they've accepted, so do this early. Teaching alone? Tell the checklist It is just me. See Team.

6. Your first course#

Courses → New course. Style, level, room, teacher, capacity, a price (type 0 for free; an empty price won't save), day, time, first lesson, number of weeks, and the enrolment dates. See Course editor.

Publish course creates every week as a dated lesson. Look at them on Schedule. Your school is still a draft, so dancers can't see it yet.

7. Your policies#

  • Cancellations: how late a block can be cancelled with a refund, and how long a place you hand out waits for payment. See Cancellations.
  • Catch-ups, if you said yes or not sure: see G05.
  • Fill-in rules, if you said yes or not sure: see G04.

8. A try-out (optional)#

Let newcomers try week one before they enrol. See G06. Decide this before you publish more blocks.

9. Go live#

Open Go live. Work through what's left, connect Payouts with Stripe, and choose Go live. See Go-live checklist.

Check it worked#

  • Your public page shows your school and the course, with No experience needed or its level, the dates, the building and the price.
  • A test dancer (a second account of your own) can enrol. They then appear on the course's Who is in list and on each lesson's roster.
