School
Your school's name, styles, logo and join code, whether you run courses, and the information dancers read about you.
For owners and managers
The School page holds who your school is and what dancers read about it: name, styles, logo, join code, buildings, whether you run courses, and your About text.
Where: sidebar → School.
Who: owners and managers.
How saving works#
This page has several parts, and they don't all save together:
| Part | How it saves |
|---|---|
| The basics (name, city, country, styles) | Save under the basics card |
| Logo | Right away when you upload or remove |
| Join code | Its own Save after you choose Change |
| Buildings | On each building's own page |
| Courses switch | Right away when you flip it |
| What dancers see | Save under those blocks |
If you leave the page with unsaved basics, the app warns you first.
The basics#
School name#
The name dancers see on your public page, in the app and in emails. It's the name of the organisation, not of a building or a class. A school needs a name, so the field can't be left empty.
City#
The city your school is known by. Every building also has its own city (see Buildings and rooms), so a school in Utrecht can still teach one night a week in Amersfoort.
Country#
The list shows several countries, but Dansly is only available for schools in the Netherlands for now. If you pick any other country, saving stops with: "Dansly is only set up for schools in the Netherlands at the moment."
Styles you teach#
Tap a style to add or remove it. The styles you pick here are the ones you can choose when you create a course or an open class, and each one gets a row under Styles and levels, where you set up its levels.
You can add a style at any time. You can't remove a style while a draft or published course or open class uses it: saving stops and names the style instead. Once those have ended you can remove it. Ended classes keep their style, and its level list is kept, so ticking the style again brings it back as it was.
Logo#
Upload a square PNG, JPEG or WebP image of at least 512 px, and at most 2 MB. It shows on your school's About page on dansly.nl, on phones and computers, and at the top of the emails your school sends: notices about classes and courses, a place offered to someone, and team invitations. Emails from Dansly itself, such as a password reset or your Dansly bill, keep the Dansly name. The app doesn't show it yet. Upload (or Replace) saves immediately, and Remove takes it off.
Your join code#
Six letters or numbers that dancers type once to find and join your school. Sharing your public page link works too.
- While your school is still a draft, you can choose Change and pick your own code. Only letters and numbers are allowed, and they're turned into capitals.
- Once your school is published, the code is fixed. Dancers who already have it keep finding you.
A published class doesn't make the join code work on its own. Your school has to be published first; see Go live and payouts.
Where dancers turn up#
A list of your buildings, each showing its address, how many rooms it has and how many classes it holds. The badges:
- main: your main building.
- address hidden: the street address isn't shown publicly.
Choose a building to edit it, or + Add a building. Everything about buildings and rooms is explained in Buildings and rooms.
What you run: Courses#
One switch: does your school sell courses, meaning blocks of weeks paid once, with the same group each time?
- On: dancers see a Courses tab and can enrol, and the Catch-ups page is in your sidebar.
- Off: your public page has no Courses tab, nobody can enrol in a block, and Catch-ups leaves the sidebar. Open classes carry on as normal.
The switch saves as soon as you flip it. You can't turn courses off while any dancer holds a seat in a course that hasn't finished yet. The app tells you how many seats are in the way, and you can try again after those blocks end.
There's no switch for open classes. Each open class says how it's paid for (credits, a price per class, or free) on the class itself. Credit plans are under Plans & codes.
What dancers see#
The text on your school's Info tab. Both blocks are optional, and an empty block doesn't appear at all.
| Block | Limit | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| About the school | 800 characters | Who you are. Shown at the top. |
| What to wear | 300 characters | Clothing and shoes. It applies to every building, so it lives here and not on a building. |
Directions, opening hours and what happens on a first evening differ per building, so they're set on each building instead.
The Live preview shows the Info tab as a dancer will see it. Prices appear above your blocks automatically, taken from your classes and your credit plans, so you never type a price list here.
