Notification settings

Choose which school notices reach you as a staff member (class summaries, fill-ins, late drop-outs, enrolments, payment problems and your Dansly account), and silence a school.

For owners, managers and teachers

What the school tells you, as a member of staff. These are your own settings. They don't change what dancers receive, or what your colleagues receive.

Where: the bell menu → Notification settings, or Notifications → Settings.
Who: every staff member, each for themselves. Changes wait for Save changes.

Your own dancing, if you also dance at a school, is set separately in the dancer app.

Where notices arrive#

  • In the app, under the bell: every topic you have on.
  • Phone push: the phone app pushes the handful that can't wait, such as your class summary, a register still open after class, and a class you teach being moved or cancelled. Tapping one about a class opens that class. A topic you switch off here doesn't push either. A push also needs notifications allowed for Dansly on your phone.
  • Email: only a few things, mostly to owners (see below). The switches on this page don't control email.

Topics#

You only see the topics that fit your role.

TopicWho sees itWhat it covers
Classes you teachEveryoneBeing put on a date to teach (the notice names the class and the date), and the summary 90 minutes before each class you teach: who is expected, and how the roles sit. And a class you teach moving or being cancelled.
Fill-ins for your classesEveryoneWhen a class you teach goes short and the asks go out, when someone takes the spot, and when nobody does.
Late drop-outsEveryoneSomeone cancelling a class you teach after the free-cancellation deadline.
EnrolmentsOwners and managersSomeone taking a seat in a course block or leaving one, a block called off (one notice, with how many dancers were told), and a dancer missing a catch-up week they booked. You aren't told about seats you gave or took back yourself.
Dancer payment problemsOwners and managersA dancer's charge failing, so somebody can chase it.
Your Dansly accountOwnersThe school going live (managers are told too, without a switch for it). Dansly billing and payout news reach you whatever this switch says (see below).

Fill-ins for your classes and Classes you teach are about classes you teach. An owner or manager who doesn't teach a class won't get its fill-in notices. They can follow every class on Tonight and in the school's activity feed.

Silence a school#

Only shown if you work at more than one school. Silencing a school stops its notices reaching you in the app and on your phone ("Only what is always on still reaches you from here."). For an owner, Dansly billing and payout news still arrive. Your topic switches stay as they are, ready for when you unsilence it.

Emails staff can get#

These are sent whatever the switches above say, because they cost something if they arrive late:

  • Owners: Dansly billing (a first invoice coming, a card missing, a failed charge), and payout news: when your payout account is ready, or when it stops being able to take payments.
  • Invited staff: the team invitation itself.

A class you teach being cancelled is emailed too. That one follows Classes you teach.

What dancers get#

Dancers choose their own notifications in their app. A few can't be switched off, because missing them would cost the dancer: A class is cancelled and Payment problems (which includes refunds). They still arrive when a dancer silences your school. You can't change a dancer's notification choices, but the fill-in reach page on a lesson shows whose choices kept them from being told; see Why wasn't this dancer asked?
