Open-class editor

Every field on an open class (a one-off or repeating class dancers book one date at a time), including repeats, payment in credits or per class, booking window, and the fill-in and try-out choices.

For owners and managers

An open class is something dancers book one date at a time: a weekly drop-in class or a one-off workshop. You set it up once, and Dansly creates a dated lesson for every date it runs.

Parties, practicas and socials are events, made in the same editor. Their settings differ enough to have their own page: Event editor.

Where: sidebar → Classes & events → a class, or New open class.
Who: owners and managers.

Draft, running, ended#

BadgeWhat it means
DraftOnly your team sees it. No dates exist yet.
RunningIts dates are on your schedule and can be booked (once your school is live).
EndedNo more future dates.

Buttons in the top bar:

  • Save draft and Publish on a draft. Publish needs a name and a room.
  • Save on a running class.
  • Delete draft removes a draft, after asking.
  • Save asks first when the change touches people booked on dates still to come: a cap lower than its busiest date, or turning a class with bookings into an event (which drops the sides and the teacher). Go back saves nothing.
  • End class stops a running class, after asking. The dialog says how many dates come off the schedule and how many places are cancelled, and offers to refund anyone who paid. If it's your last class that takes credits and dancers still hold credits this month, it also says how many: they can't spend them until a class that takes credits is back. Switching that class to per class or free asks the same before it saves. See Stop or extend a recurring class.
  • Roster · 17 Oct opens the next date's page (or Roster · last one once it has ended).
  • Run again republishes an ended class.

If your school isn't live yet, publishing puts the class on your schedule but not in front of dancers. The checks panel says so.

The class#

FieldNotes
NameWhat dancers see. Suggested from style and level until you type your own.
Kind of eveningClass, Workshop or Event. See below.
StyleOne of the styles you teach.
LevelA step from that style's list, or Any level. See Styles and levels.
RoomNeeded before you publish.
TeachersOptional. A class or workshop without one shows as unstaffed.

Kind of evening#

The kind changes how the class behaves, not just its label:

KindLeads and followsCapacity fieldFill-ins
ClassCounted apartHow many of each roleAsked for when it runs short
WorkshopCounted apartHow many of each roleAsked for when it runs short
EventNo rolesHow many people fit, optionalNever

How many of each role can be 1–60: 12 means 12 leads and 12 follows.

Choosing Event also removes style, level, teachers, credits and try-outs, and adds ticket prices that can change, tickets for people who don't dance with you, and a door. All of that is on Event editor. "Social" is no longer a separate kind; every social is now an event.

There's no solo, no-roles version of a class or workshop in this editor. For solo teaching, use a solo course.

How long (minutes) can be 30–300, in steps of 15. It starts at 60.

When it runs#

ChoiceFields
One-offStart and Date.
WeeklyDay, Start, Runs from, Runs until.
Every other weekSame as weekly, every second week from the first date.

Under the fields, a line spells out what you'll get: "That's 12 lessons, Wednesdays 20:00, from …". Check it before publishing.

No end date — keep repeating until I stop it#

For weekly and every-other-week classes. With it ticked, Runs until is left empty, and Dansly keeps dates six months ahead of today, adding more every day. To stop the class, use End class.

Add more dates#

On a running class, Runs until can move later, never earlier. Pick a new last date, or tick No end date, and Save. The dates in between are made when you save, and the app says how many: "Saved. 8 more lessons are on the schedule." Dates are never added in the past. A class that already has no end date keeps it that way; End class is how it stops.

Changing a running class#

A running class's dates already exist. Some edits reach them and some don't:

  • Teachers and room: carry over to all future dates.
  • Name, level, price, booking window, fill-in and try-out choices, description and photo: can be changed at any time.
  • Runs until: can move later, which adds the dates in between. Never earlier.
  • Day, start time, length, how often it repeats and Runs from: fixed once the class is running, and greyed out in the editor. To move the class to another evening, End class and create a new one. To move a single date, edit that lesson from the schedule; see Change one date. A date you've moved stays moved.

How it's paid for#

Each open class chooses how it's paid for. There's no school-wide price.

Credits#

Dancers spend credits from a monthly credit plan.

  • Credits to book: 1–10 credits per lesson. Most schools use 1.
  • Counts towards a member's weekly maximum: on by default. When it's on, a dancer on a plan with a weekly maximum uses one of their weekly classes on this. Turn it off for extras people can come to on top of their usual classes, such as a practice night. This is separate from how many credits the class costs.
  • Plans allowed: which of your plans can book this class. All are ticked to begin with. A dancer on a plan you've unticked is told "Your plan does not include this class." and can't book it. That includes Unlimited, if you untick it. If you untick every plan, that means every plan may book, not no plan may.

You need at least one active credit plan to publish a credit-priced class. If you have none, the editor says so. You can still save the class as a draft, or choose Make one now to create your first plan in a small dialog without leaving the class. The plan goes on sale straight away ("Flex is on sale.").

The dancer preview shows no price for a credit class. It shows the number of credits instead.

Per class#

A single-visit price. Price (€) must be filled in. An empty box isn't a price and won't save; type 0 for a free class. Dancers pay at booking.

Free#

No payment. (A free practica or social night is an event.)

Cancelling a booking#

Under the payment choice, the editor repeats your school's cancellation window: "Cancel at least 12 hours before and the credit comes back" (or the money, if you refund single visits). This is one school-wide rule, set under Cancellations. It isn't set per class.

Booking window and automation#

FieldLimitsStarts atMeaning
Opens (days before)1–9014How far ahead a date can be booked.
Closes (minutes before start)0–144000 means dancers can book right up to the start.

Fill-ins for this class#

Classes and workshops only. The heading repeats your school's timing and gap, for example "Asks 4h before, at 1 short", or "Automation is off for the school".

  • Follow the school setting (default): does whatever your Fill-in rules say, and changes with them.
  • Off for this class: no fill-in requests for this class at all, including when someone is marked absent.

The school's switch under Fill-in rules is the main one: while it's off, no class asks, whatever it says here.

Try-out class#

  • Follow the school setting (default): the class offers a try-out whenever your Try-out classes settings allow one on open classes. The description tells you what that means today.
  • No try-outs here: never a try-out on this class, even when the school offers them elsewhere.

Description and photo#

Description appears with the class. Photo appears on the class card: wide, landscape works best. The preview on the right shows the card with Book and the price.

Who can book it now#

On a running credit class, the panel on the right lists each of your plans, with its weekly maximum, and how many dancers on that plan could book. Plans you haven't allowed show not allowed.
