Set up an open-class school
From a new account to a live school selling classes dancers book one date at a time, with credits, a price per class, or free.
For owners
Outcome: a live school where dancers can buy what you sell (a credit plan, a single class or a free spot) and book a date.
Who: the owner, on the web. A manager can do every step except connecting payouts and going live.
1. Answer the setup questions#
Choose Open classes for "How do people dance with you?". Courses are switched off, so Catch-ups won't appear in your sidebar. See Choose your setup.
2. Basics, building and levels#
Same as a course school: check the School page, add a building and room, and set up levels for your styles. A class can also be Any level.
3. Decide how each class is paid for#
Each open class chooses for itself:
| Choice | Dancers | You need |
|---|---|---|
| Credits | Buy a monthly plan, spend credits per class | At least one credit plan |
| Per class | Pay a price per visit | A price on the class |
| Free | Just book | Nothing |
For credits, create your plans first under Plans & codes (see G07), or use Make one now from inside the class editor.
4. Your first open class#
Classes & events → New open class. Choose the kind (Class, Workshop or Event; a party is an event), style, level, room, teachers, capacity, and One-off, Weekly or Every other week, with the dates. The line under the dates spells out how many lessons you'll get. Then the payment, and the booking window. See Open-class editor.
Publish creates the dates. A credit-priced class can't be published until you have a plan for sale.
Once a class is running, its day, time and repeat are fixed. Choose them carefully; to move a single date, change it from the schedule.
5. Your policies#
- Cancellations: how late a class can be cancelled with the credit (or money) back. See Cancellations.
- Fill-in rules, if you said yes or not sure: see G04.
- Try-outs on open classes (optional): see Try-out classes.
6. Go live#
Go live → finish the checklist, connect Payouts, choose Go live. See Go-live checklist.
Check it worked#
- A test dancer can buy what you sell: a plan, or pay for a single class.
- They can book a date, and the right thing is spent. With credits, their balance drops by the class's credits.
- They appear on that lesson's roster.
