Dancer handout: joining and booking

For your dancers. How to join the school, book a class or enrol in a course, pay, and get classes into their own calendar.

For dancers

A page for your dancers. Send them the link, or copy the parts you need into your welcome email.

Your school uses Dansly for classes, courses and payments. Here's how to get started.

1. Join the school#

You need an account, and then the school. Either:

  • open the link your school gave you, and follow it, or
  • sign up. After your name and birthdate, you're asked How do you dance?: whether you lead or follow, and which styles. Your role is what keeps classes balanced, and you can change both later in your Profile. Then, at Which school do you dance at?, type the six-character code your school gave you and choose Join. You can also search for the school by name or city.

There's nothing to pay yet. You choose a course, a plan or a class when you book.

2. Find your way around#

Inside your school, the menu has:

  • Home: what's next for you.
  • Agenda: the school's classes, week by week, with yours marked.
  • Courses: the school's course blocks, and the ones you're in.
  • Fill-ins: requests to help balance a class, if your school uses them.
  • Payments: what you've paid.
  • Profile: your role, levels and settings.

3. Enrol in a course#

A course is a block of weekly lessons with the same group, paid once.

  1. Courses → open the course.
  2. Choose Enrol, and pick lead or follow at checkout. When one side is already full, the button says which one is left: Enrol as follow. Solo courses have no role to choose.
  3. Pay. Your seat is yours for every week of the block.

You don't book each week of a course. Course weeks can't be booked one at a time.

4. Book a class#

An open class is booked one date at a time.

  1. Agenda → pick a day and tap the class.
  2. Choose Lead or Follow if the class asks, and check the price. It's one of:
    • credits from a monthly plan, if your school sells plans. If you don't have one this month, the sheet says so and offers See the plans;
    • a price per class: Pay and book takes you to checkout;
    • Free: the button reads Count me in.
  3. Choose Book.

A plan is for the calendar month you buy it in, and doesn't renew by itself. Buy a new one next month if you want to keep booking with credits.

If you can't book, the button is greyed out and a line underneath says why, for example "This class is full for that role.", "Booking has closed for this class." or "You have used your classes for this week."

5. Your first class#

If your school offers a try-out, newcomers see it on the class or course. Some schools take the try-out price off the course if you enrol afterwards.

6. Put classes in your own calendar#

Profile → Your classes in your own calendar → Copy calendar link gives you a private link. Add it as a subscription in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Your bookings appear there and stay up to date.

Cancelling#

Open the class from your Agenda or Home and choose Cancel this class. Whether you get your credit or money back depends on how early you cancel. Your school sets that, and the app tells you before you confirm.

For a course week you can't make, don't cancel: see Missing a class.

Help#

Questions about classes, prices or your booking: ask your school. They can see your bookings and help.
