Early-bird or newcomer discount

Two common codes, step by step. An early-bird code for enrolling weeks ahead, and a welcome code for someone's first purchase. How to check it's working.

For owners and managers

Dansly has no separate "early bird" or "welcome offer" feature. Both are discount codes with a condition. Dancers type the code at checkout.

Where: Plans & codes → the discount codes card → new code.
Who: owners and managers.

An early-bird code#

Studio Voorbeeld gives 10% off next term's blocks to anyone who enrols at least three weeks before the block starts.

  1. Code: EARLYBIRD.
  2. A percentage, Percent off: 10.
  3. What it works on: Course blocks only. Leave One block only on Any course block, so it works on every block.
  4. Who can use it: Anyone.
  5. Only when enrolling this many days ahead: 21.
  6. Uses per dancer: leave it at 1, or raise it if people may use it for two blocks.
  7. Read the summary: "EARLYBIRD — 10% off · course blocks · 21+ days ahead". Make the code.

A dancer enrolling 12 days before the block starts is told "EARLYBIRD is for enrolling 21 days ahead. This block starts in 12 days."

Keep early-bird codes on Course blocks only. Only a course has a start date, so the condition refuses the code on anything else, and the dialog warns you if you tick more.

A welcome code#

€10 off the first credit plan, for people who've never paid you before, for the first 50 people.

  1. Code: WELKOM.
  2. An amount, Amount off (€): 10.
  3. What it works on: Credit plans.
  4. Who can use it: Newcomers: "Only somebody who has never paid you for anything."
  5. Uses in total: 50. Uses per dancer: 1.
  6. Make the code.

Someone who paid for a try-out still counts as a newcomer: turning try-outs into regulars is the point. Someone you gave a free place to does too.

First of a kind is the looser version: their first credit plan, even if they've bought a block before.

Tell people#

A code only works if dancers know it. Put it in your course description, your newsletter or your social posts. Dansly doesn't show codes to dancers by itself.

Check it's working#

  • Plans & codes: the code shows how often it's been used ("3 of 50 used"), or a badge when it isn't working: Not yet, Ended, Used up, Off.
  • Payments: open the code's tab to see every payment with it, and "EARLYBIRD brought in €648 across 6 payments in September, giving away €72."
  • If someone says it didn't work, see Discount code is refused.

When the campaign ends#

Turn off the code, or give it an Until (and including) date in advance. A used code can't be deleted: it's the record of why those payments were lower.
